series production of the mercedes sls amg finally begins
And so it begins.

The Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing has finally gone into series production at Mercedes’ largest production facility in Sindelfengen, Germany.

The SLS AMG is set to come with a number of notable parts including a chassis and aluminum body-shell that’s being produced by Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH in Austria. Likewise, the Mercedes’ AMG division will be the ones tasked to build the Gullwing’s monstrous 571hp 6.3-liter V8 engine at their facility in Affalterbach.

As soon as all the all the parts have been completed, the next step involving the production of the supercar will head off to Mercedes’ aforementioned Sindelfingen production plant where the SLS AMG will be assembled before it finally rolls out of production.

After debuting at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September, the SLS AMG has received praise and acclaim from all corners of the world for both its unique design and top-notch performance.

The car’s expected sales debut will begin on March 27, 2010 where it will be sold for €177,310 ($249,000) in Germany.
